You could always start doing bad things, staying out till 2-3 am, drinking, drugs etc.. your parents will be so worried by your new actions, they wont realise that your notebook is in your room:P.

Or you can just save every penny you can, and get your own place

My cousin had this problem to, but she did something sneaky
She ran away from home for like 2 days, and then se returned, and her parents where "OMG where have you been, we where worried and stuff"
And then she said i was looking for my own place, i dont want to live with these rules anymore -_-
And since then she doesnt have any rules anymore ... =/

I have better parents, when im downstairs my parents ask, "WTH is there fire?" or "Why are you downstairs? What happend?"

^^

A million girls went naked on cam (like you don't even have to ask some of them) on MSN... If you are good at a computer game, it seems that they will flash for attention.

Maybe your parents are worried about this? Who knows...

(I'm not saying you would ever do that btw, but maybe it's a worry from parents)

Parents have slightly different rules for sons and daughters.
I can half understand the greater worry for a daughters safety online with predators and wierdos and well, some girls are skanks and own webcams.

Really, the only thing I can suggest if you want to change this is to explain to them that you're using the internet responsibly, and that you're NOT a skank with a webcam, and are smart enough to smell out any traps the pedobear might lay out for you.

In the mean time, personally I'd abide by their rules. I'm assuming since you live at home they're, providing your internet as well. If you've nothing to hide, having to use a computer where people can see you shouldn't be a problem. In time, after they're comfortable knowing you're complying with their rules, they may lighten up with them gradually. You have to give a little to get a little, in any place.

Um he is 18 he can look at whatever the hell he wants even if his parents dont approve Thats the beauty of being a adult, and why would you be scared of what a 18 year old adult looks at on the internet I think by that time he would have the commen sense to serf the web. Leagly speaking he can look at whatever he wants and considering he paid for the labtop they have no right to even say anything IMHO.

It is the young kids we need to worry about looking at stuff they should'nt.

You could move out since your 18 and same for your brother considering he is 20 should been off to college or something of that nature.
If you really want freedom than get your own place

WHY DO PEOPLE SAY LABTOP AMAGAAD IT IS SO ANNOYING. IT IS A LAPTOP BECAUSE IT GOES ON YOUR LAP!!!!!!!! >>>>>.<<<<<

UNLESS YOU BOUGHT FROM ALIENWARE AND THEN IT BURNS YOUR CROTCH.

Woosah.... D:

What's with all this 'oh you're 18 so must move out'. That's bollocks too... You can't buy a house until you're 21 here, it's not legal. You can't gamble until you're 21. 18 doesn't really warrant you as being an adult, and besides - just because the owner of the house you live in does not want you to go on the internet away from people does not mean you should move house in my opinion. That's really extreme...

I think with females, like I said it's not so much them seeing things, it's the worry of them showing things =D.

maybe your parents arent allowing you to have a laptop in your room because, well, youve been naughty? [no sexual innuendo intented]

if you keep your laptop on your balls for long and frequently enough, theyll probably end up deforming them aswell.

Myspace = bad

That place isn't exactly brimming with talented individuals...it's either girls with everything hanging out, or school boys looking to get laid.

Hermet, two things:

1. Parents worry about their kids long after the kids become adults.
2. The OP lives in her parents house so they have a right to make some of the rules.

I live on my own, and my PC doubles as a space heater because it has entirely too much bleeding edge crappola in it. So, I cannot understand your suffering. But I can have empathy for your situation.

Is your mom like this btw?

Eh, I'm almost 21 and still live with my parents but they give me all liberty.

This is just another "parents protecting their daughter(s)" thing. In my point of view, parents are more protective of their daughter(s) because they don't want them to be the next hooker on the block, while with boys, it's basically "Ah, they can do whatever they want".

I say they're just being dumb and you should threaten them with sharp implements! (No, don't! lol)

I'm 18 and my parents don't really have many problems with my computer being in my room. Fair enough though, I do tend to stay up fairly late gaming sometimes (Especially so on events...) but it doesn't really bother anyone appart from my dad since he just doesn't like the concept of me going to bed when he's waking up for work and ect.

I say just really talk to your parents and try to understand why their rules are there and try to reason with them, then ask for opportunities to prove you can use it safely and responsibly.
